Children's Activities

LANTERN WORKSHOP

TIME: Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

TIME: Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

PLACE: Festhalle

The Lantern Workshop is a favorite with children each year. Each child can decorate their own lantern after which they will receive a heart-shaped gingerbread cookie. A limited number of decorated lanterns will be available to children between 4 and 5pm.
.
There will be a charge of $4.00 for each undecorated lantern or $5.00 for each pre-decorated lantern sold after 4 p.m.




CHILDREN'S CRAFTS

TIME: Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

TIME: Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

PLACE: Held in the Grange Hall


Children will have the opportunity again this year to make other crafts while they warm up, get a snack, play games with and watch a movie in the Grange Hall located at the west end of Front St.




SPECIAL WELCOMING CEREMONY

TIME: Friday and Saturday evenings at 5:30 p.m.

PLACE: Gazebo on Front Street

In traditional fashion the Christkind will welcome all to the Market and share wishes for the Christmas holiday season. The dream of most girls in Germany is to be the "Christkind" or "Golden Angel" which is the symbol of Christmas in German-speaking countries. She will be joined by St. Nicholas, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Leavenworth's own Enzian Alphorns, and Boellerschutzen will also participate followed by a variety of holiday music.

The Lantern Parade will immediately follow the Welcoming Ceremony.




LANTERN PARADE

TIME: Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. following the
TIME: Welcoming Ceremony

PLACE: Starting at the Gazebo

Carrying their hand-crafted, glowing lanterns, the children will follow the Christkind, St. Nicholas and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus through the streets to the Festhalle where they will receive a candy cane and a ready-to-frame story of the Christmas tree angel.


LETTERS TO ST. NICHOLAS

TIME: Friday - Sunday

PLACE: in the Festhalle

Young children have the opportunity to write a letter to Santa Claus. They will be wide-eyed and overflowing with excitement when they receive a return note from Santa Claus.

Come and visit with the Christkind and Father Christmas Sunday 1:00 - 4:00pm in the Festhalle.
